Against the Light

blindness, it is not a curse
it is no hindering disease
one cannot overcome.
its condition arrives when we are ignorant
to the circumstances of our lives;
it is not that we are damaged beyond repair.
we still have eyes from which we could see
if only we would pull our heads
from the darkness of our alternate endings.

and it seems that we do not trust enough;
and believe we alone are infected.
we must sob so we can suffer-
so we can feel emotion, know it is real,
so others can see our pain
that they might comfort and love
when we become victims to ourselves.
