Rest in Peace HB

Not yet laid to rest,
but your life is gone-
memory carries on
but presently brings
pain, a lingering sting.

The weight of breath
we take to get by
the sighs heavy
on death so final, with
unspoken last goodbye.

Lips deny the urge
to whimper, like eyes
fight to hold back tears-
we wait for rain to cry
hide pain swelling inside

wish to restore your life,
so young to expire
leaving your love to weep-
the widower’s heart beats
an endless love’s song.
