In Full Bloom

In modest fashion, sweetest repose
the bud of the orchid, the lily, the rose
waits, holstering its bounty with deliberate care
cradling true beauty inside like the lids of sleeping eyes.

Until at dawn, eyes flutter back to life
to find that the petals mimicked their stride
in rush to open wide, greet the new morning’s light
take the warmth of the sun as their bride.
