Homecoming

For years I ran,
tried to escape this place I grew up in.
It did not hold my heart;
my heart did not accept it.
I fought like hell to escape its grip,
until, finally, its pull loosened a bit.
For a while I thought I was getting somewhere, somewhere new.
But now that I have found love,
now that I am starting life anew,
I found my way back to what I used to know-
that place I avoided like hell I will finally call home.
